Short ride across the bay from the airport and heading east is the Cabo de Gata National Park. The inland lake is used for desalination research and adjacent is a test track where Michelin put their heavy plant tyres through the paces covering about 3 million Km a year testing them.

Nestled between the Sierra Nevada's and the Sierra Luque just outside the Andalucian hill town of Orgiva is this large heliport which is mainly used for forestry patrols. Bell 212 EC-HFV stands by.
